Diagnostic instruments such as framing camera, streak camera and the like used to study ultra-fast phenomena are important approach to Inertial Confined Fusion like laser-induced nuclear fusion and Z-pinch ; they play significant roles in X-ray laser, plasma physics, high-field physics etc. and they help to realize high temporal and spatial resolving, and capturing. In recent years, as the drive level has kept being improved, so do the size and the spatial scale of the target-field diagnostic system, therefore the electric control system of the common ultrafast diagnostic instrument can only be operated manually and cannot perform a real-time diagnose, which lags behind the requirement of diagnostic system and automatic measurement.An urgent call for an intelligentized control system designed for ultrafast diagnostic instrument is made as the recent development of the ultrafast diagnostic instrument and the need of control system networking and automatic measurement. In accordance with the specialty of major instruments for ultra-fast diagnosis ~ framing camera and streak camera, a multifunctional I/O interface card is designed, which is an MCU-centered interface card with integration of eight-channel A/D, eight-channel D/A, eighteen digital I/O, and temperature, moisture and air pressure sensors, featuring advantages of low power consumption, high integrity and anti-interference ability. Meanwhile, a central control program based on PC/104 is designed, which has realized man-machine interface and RS232 remote control, camera working mode, working point setting and working environment monitoring and auto protection.The validity of the designed intelligent control system has been proved by experiment; it can satisfy the requirement of all the parameters under normal functioning and environment monitoring. This system has been applied in the framing camera, with the stability, reliability and output consistency of the camera system improved; it has promoted the preciseness of investigation on ultra-fast phenomena.
