Quansunmiao was a famous literature scholar in late Qing Dynasty, and he was well- known for epigraphy, version of science. bibliography. texyual criticism,science of word and so on, he was made an important contributions to these subjucts, especially in literature aspects. The ideas and methods thich embodied in his researches have an important reference and influence on later scholars. This paper selects his science of version and science of word as the research subjects and discuss Miao's important contributions and analyse his academic thoughs and methods in this way.This paper selects Miao's version studies and word study literature as the subjects and discuss these two parts.The first portion discusses Miao's version studies,which includes four parts. Part I discusses the development of version studies in Qing Dynasty and the academic environment in which the times Miao researched.Part II sums up Miao's view on the rare books,and analyses the pioneering points in his views furthermore.Part III mainly discusses Miao and his research on version catalogue.Part IV mainly discusses Miao's thinking and methods of version identification.The second portion discusses Miao's research on word and literature.Part I discusses Miao's friendship with the famous scholars in the same period and understand their mutual exchange and interaction in terms of literature.The second part introduces Miao's relationship with the foundation of word community as well as catalogue books he wrote.The third part introduces Miao's contributions on version collection and so on.The fourth part takes Miao's "Chang Zhou Record Word"for example then introduces and analyses his contributions and methods on literature arrangement and research.
