Coking process is a key step in steel production. As a prevalent technique with advantages such as recovery and utilization, environmental protection, and better quality of coke, coke dry quenching has become the mainstream in coking production. And the key point determining effects of power recovery and environmental protection is automatic control system.Taking the process of coke dry quenching into account, the thesis analyzes the properties of coke dry quenching and requirements of control, and provides a design of monitoring and control system for full flow of coke dry quenching, in which there are two levels, named as PLC control system and monitoring system of coke dry quenching. Based on S7-400 PLC of Siemens and corresponding development utilities, the paper presents the design and realization method of the control program in basic automation level, and the network structure of the control system. Based on this PLC control system, the paper presents the design of configuration for monitoring system, which is programmed by using WinCC, so that the system can fulfill functions including sampling, data processing, and human-computer interaction.The complete system is used in practical coke dry quenching process in LianYuan steel company. The performance show that, this automatic control system meets the requirements of industrial production, and the software system is stable and reliable. Hence the system brings remarkable economic benefits and social benefits, by enhancing the qualities of coke and decreasing the power consuming.
