Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a new biological imaging technique which is based on the exploration of the short coherence length of broadband light sources to noninvasively generate the high resolution optical sectioning images. The most challenging technical problem in OCT system is how to achieve rapid scanning in reference arm to realize the real time imaging. In this thesis the rapid scaring delay line were investigated both theoretically and experimentally. First of all, various rapid scanning techniques were summarized and their advantages and disadvantages were compared. The principles, system arrangement and parameters of rapid scanning delay line were then discussed in detail. Thirdly, control signal and output signal of scanning galvanometer as well as the supply of control signals and the connection method of output signals were discussed. Finally parameters of the experimental system were calculated. The system for the rapid scanning delay line was then set up, the experimental steps were given in details, and methods for evaluating the performances of the system were described. This work is an important part of the OCT system designed in our Lab.
