Data Warehouse Technology In Environmental Information Systems Research

In recent years, according to the improving of living style,the goverment regards environmental protection more and more.After information systems were introduced into the environmental protection system,the informationization environmental protection system was improved,but most of the information systems were used to deal with the normal managing tasks of the environmental protection system.It's lake of information systems for treating with decision-making.So develop the Data Warehouse and decision-making supporting system based on it for environmental protection tasks is very necessary.The project of building datawarehouse for the information center of environmental protection bureau is for the purpose of developing a datawarehouse for the information center.and develop OLAP system on this foundation.The model of the datawarehouse is to built as the latitude model.The frame of this OLAP system use the browser and server frame (B/S).develop with the java and XML technique.The system running on the Windows2003 server platform,the software platform is IBM DWE,the database use the DB2 database platform. The construction of Data Warehouse includes three main parts.The first is the foundation of Data Warehouse.The second is the design and implementation of ETL tasks.The third is the implementation of the data presentation.So we can't build a data warehouse directly.Our target is to build a simple data market,which is good for building data warehouse from up to down. Then develop a OLAP system depends on the data market.Building the OLAP system need the supports of the data in the data market.Data market is the minium edition of the Data Warehouse,which is base on a group of the needs of users.So our developing tasks can be departed into following parts.At the first,analyse the users'needs and design the analysis model of the OLAP system.Then build the star models of the data market according to the analysis model.Then find out the source data from the source systems according to the designed structure of the tables in the data market and design the rules of ETL.Then design the cube logic model of the OLAP system and implement the system finally. This article introduces the whole developing process of building the data market and the OLAP system depends on it. Includes the designs, the implementations and the testing. The designs include the design for the structure of the data market,the design for the ETL tasks,the design for the OLAP system and the maintenance of the data market.The implementations include the foundation for the database of the data market,the coding for the ETL program,the implementation for the platform of the OLAP reports,and the coding for the maintenance of the Data market programs.
