The Application Research Of Web-based Data Warehousing

Since the data warehouse technology rose in the 1990s, it has become the focal point of studying and develops gradually. At present many data warehouse products have appeared on the market. But data warehouse is a project, not a product that you can buy off the shelf. In order to avoid a data warehouse project meltdown, many key technologies need to be further studied.This thesis concentrates on some of key problems about designing and implementation of the data warehouse. In this paper, a model called "database -central database - data warehouse" has been put forward. As well as, the architecture of web-based data warehouse has been discussed. Because of the difference of data sources, building a data warehouse often need a variety of ECT tools at the same time, and these tools probably need to be customized. Therefore, ECT tool based on parameter list is designed to meet the complex requirement. In addition to, according to the practical situation of domestic enterprise, a strategy of building data warehouse called "well-planned from bottom to top " has been put forward. Finally, an enterprise wide solution is designed for the safe problem that the data warehouse on the web is faced with. As a good case in point, some ideas of designing and implementing the web-based data warehouse mentioned in this paper have been applied in EDIAS(Enterprise Data Integrating and Analyzing System) project successfully.
