Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a kind of automatic identification technology from 1980's, which has specific application of wireless technology in automatic identification field. Recent years, the research and application of RFID technology has been gotten fast development in the world.RFID system can be classified to low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), ultra high frequency (UHF) and microwave system by working frequency. By now, LF and HF RFID technology has been applied maturely in recent years. UHF and microwave RFID technology, as which have long identify distance, fast identify speed, high identify accuracy, strong anti-jamming ability, long use of life and nonmetal penetrable feature, have vast market and application prospect in the highway vehicle automatic identification, automatic charge system, city transport management, railway vehicle automatic identification, logistic, warehouse management and so on. Nowadays, UHF technology has been the keystone and hotspot in many countries research, and will still keep its high speed development in the nearly years in the future. Meanwhile, with another technology—embedded technology's fast development, the smart, excellent capability, cheap and convenient handheld automatic identify equipment for reading and writing has been gotten rapid development.It is now in the junior stage of the UHF RFID technology research in China, especially in the area of UHF RFID reader technology. Since it is short of the competitive core technology and intellectual property rights in the area of handheld RFID reader's research and application, the gap between China and the oversea countries is very huge.According to above problems, some jobs are done based on the deeply research of basic theory, system development flow, development actuality and the related standards of the RFID, the details are as follows:1. Study and summary the related knowledge of RFID and embedded technology;2. Based on the research of the product development flow, deeply analyze and design the development flow of this project, complete the overall project design of the UHF RFID handheld reader system;3. Make detailed research and development of the smart, multi-interface, low consumption RF module of UHF RFID reader;4. Finish the PCB plate, software and hardware debugging of the RF module;5. Finish the design of the control function module of the RFID reader which uses ARM processor as its core, research and develop the embedded Linux system.
