RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)is a general developing tendency of AEI(Automatic Equipment Identification), which has even been praised to be one of the top ten most significant technology of the 21st century. After the problem of high cost being solved by the advantaged policy enacted by governments around the world, RFID is applied into mass broad fields. As the core part of RFID system, RFID reader holds a far-flung space of technology developing and market future. Consequently, the problem, how to design RFID reader with advanced performance, convenient use and reasonable cost floats into our line of sight.After making a simply introduction of the RFID theory and the basic structure of a RFID reader, this dissertation presents an example of RFID reader designing based on the ARM-embedded platform according to the requirement of application. First,the general system scheme is carried out by analyzing the needs and characteristic of the system. The requirement of portability and mass function are emphasized in consideration when choosing the platform of ARM-embedded. Then the dissertation describes the process of hardware designing, driver coding and debugging, wireless network connecting and software designing in proper order. At last, some sample readers are tested in the applied circumstance and the content, methods and results of these tests are also described in detail.In conclusion, this dissertation attempts to offer a train of thought and some useful methods in the field of RFID reader designing.
