Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting(DTTB) has been an attractive topic in television broadcasting field for years.Chinese DTV standard has been ratified from August,2006,named Digital Terrestrial/Television Multimedia Broadcasting (DTMB).In DTMB system,TDS-OFDM is used as a modulation technique, which explores the advantages of signal processing in both domain and makes the system flexible by combining time and frequency domain signal processing together.Channel estimation serves as one of the most crucial issues in DTMB receivers, since system performance largely depends on the accuracy of channel estimation. In DTMB broadcasting system, the terrestrial broadcasting channels are very complicated.Hence,it is difficult to design and implement a fast algorithm with low computational complexity and high accuracy. In this dissertation, the propagation characteristics of digital television are introduced firstly. The TDS-OFDM channel estimation method and single carrier channel estimation algorithm are described.Based on the research about channel estimation algorithm,a modified channel estimation method is proposed, and the comparison of simulation results and performance is analyzed.According to the modified algorithm, the VLSI implementation for channel estimation of DTMB system is carried out, including module design and platform design. The performance comparison about module design on area and power is given. The platform design contains software verification platform and FPGA test platform. The result of FPGA verification is given in the test part. The TPS signal decode module which is used to decode transmission parameter of system is designed and tested at last.
