Nowadays character animation is an important part of virtual reality, digital game, movie making. With the development and advances in technology, real-time character animation's requires increasing heavily. The simulation of human-like motion is still a difficult open problem.Character animation control, that is, behavior planning which conducts the virtual characters in a virtual scene performing different actions under different environmental conditions. Traditional animation control technology can only deal with simple requirements of the game scenes. When the characters need to achieving realistic actions in complex scenes, the combination of basic movements seemed not enough. Physics-based Character animation simulation may solve these problems in some way, but it is still difficult to achieve real-time requirements because it's too complex to model the human-like movements. An effective solution is to establish a simple physics model to skeleton movements, dividing complex skeleton model into a number of basic units and managed individually.Kinematic methods and dynamic methods for real-time character animation are deeply analyzed in this thesis. In application, systematic analyze the design idea based on Dance which combines biomechanics, robotics technology as a black box to the user who could create animation easily. In addition, how to develop own plug-in in dance environment is also showed. By setting sensors, position, stiffness, damping for joints and skeleton to decide the charactor's initial states.System computes the reaction between charactor and environment real-time. The experimental result shows the engine has nature-looking in animation simulation which performances well in real-time simulation and can be extended easily through plug-in system.
