Cloth simulation initially derives from deformable objects simulation problem, thistechnique has been researched more than twenty years. As demands of digitalentertainment increases tremendously, cloth simulation study especially costumeanimation is becoming one of hot spot in worldwide animation industry. Application bythis technique is not only in amusement, but national defense and medical science.Costume simulation in character mainly describes a method to render high-realityanimation by using springs as calculation basis of physic. Firstly, simple and efficientphysical formulations are adopted to simulate. After those processing collisions betweencostume and human body, it is able to avoid penetration. Finally, huge amount data ofcalculation results requires to display. A demand of effects and efficiency drivesresearchers to study in rigorous application environments. This paper aims to raisesimulation speed; it is based on the premise that distortion would be removed. Threekey algorithms constitute the study work, mainly including following tasks:First of all, devise and reform cloth simulation algorithm. Algorithm addsgeometry pretreatment before physical imitation. In order to enhance computationefficiency, graph structure is used to decrease number of springs. Verlet integration isintroduced to guarantee animation rate and precision. The final costume animationreceives ideal test frame speed. It proves validity and rationality in algorithmimprovement.Secondly, collision detection algorithm modification meliorates effects. Detectionalgorithms are applied in different level. AABB algorithm is applicable to inertiamotion of body; simple geometry algorithm is used for rapid movement. Thesealgorithms are capable of adapting to switch in costumes and bodies. It gives perfect testresults on this condition.Thirdly, algorithm improves physical computation and animation rendering,optimizes algorithm framework. SIMD method is applied in collision detection, itsupports large-scale cloth calculation. Reconstruct data structure under GPUenvironment in connection with particularity of rendering data. GPU accelerates display to render simulation and test datum.Animation illustrates in rendering pipeline ensures real-time and sense of reality.Both of data structure optimization and tidy algorithm flows assure a consistencymethod. Work in this paper is the base of future study.
