FPAA,the filed programmable analog arrays, is one kind of the programmable analog devices(PAD) that appear recently years. The main advantage of FPAA is the dynamic reconfiguration, which means the customer could achieve the needed analog circuits by programming the internal connections and the parameters of the device after leaving factory. Meanwhile, FPAA belongs to analog IC, the input, output and the internal state is time-continues, value-continues analog signals. Compared to the traditional analog circuit design, the method designing analog circuits with FPAA is more convenient and less time, so the circuits are more competitive.As the same as the CLB of FPGA, FPAA also has the basic cell: Configurable Analog Block (CAB), which is the core of the FPAA. It usually includes OPAMP, programmable CAP arrays, configurable switch arrays, and so on. The capacitance values, different topologies of the circuits could change by programming the dates stored in the SRAM. By changing the programmable dates, the CAB will provide different circuit functions. So the performance of a FPAA mainly depends on the circuit configurations and the performance of the CAB. Now the optimizing design of the CAB is also one of the important directions of the FPAA development.The work on this thesis will focus on the circuit design of the CAB.Firstly, by introducing the concept of the PAD, analyzing the research actuality and the further development, so we understand the significance of this research. Secondly, introducing the concept and the basic constructs of the FPAA, analyzing the technologies of the popular FPAA devices on market, comparing the different constructs of the CAB. All of these are the basic of the structure design of the CAB on this thesis.Then, based on switch-capacitor technology, designed the structure of the CAB. Mainly it includes OPAMP, programmable capacitance arrays, reference, comparator, successive approximate register, and so on. By programming these basic blocks, the CAB could achieve different functions.Finally, to verify the functions of the designed CAB, some simulations were done. The simulation results show that the FPAA based on this CAB could achieve about 13 kinds of functions.In a word, based on the switch-capacitor technology, this thesis completed the circuit design of the CAB of the FPAA. Based on the designed CAB, the FPAA could achieve about 13 analog circuit functions. So the work of this thesis extends the application range of the FPAA and promotes the development of the project.
