The operation of modern corporations depends on data as time goes on. The loss of the information data will lead to immeasurable damage for these corporations. More and more people take focus on how to resist a large-scale disaster emergency. So far, base on current situation of technological development, the only doable solution is to setup a set of remote disaster recovery system. Since domestic manufacturers are not able to produce storage arrays with such remote disaster recovery function, most of them, especially for the ordinary ones don't have the confidence, when facing imported storage products, because of its high cost. So, it has both scientific and economic value to develop a storage array with practicality, high-quality, cost-effective and disaster recovery capabilities.Based on research and analysis of disaster recovery, network storages, backup and disk array technologies, this thesis designs and implements of a SAN-oriented remote mirroring system. The system supports remote disaster recovery function, provides both synchronous and asynchronous modes of remote mirroring. It also provides the users with appropriate disaster recovery solutions for different requiments. After a detailed description of remote mirroring system, overall architecture, I/O processing principle, mechanism of user management, application scenarios, functional and performance features, the thesis gives a deep analysis to the implementing method and principle of each component involved in the system. Finally, the thesis dedicates a report on functionality and performance testing of the remote mirroring system. After a horizontal comparison of similar products abroad, the thesis makes a conclusion that the system has high reliable capacity of disaster recovery, and will not result in performance down on storage arrays. In this paper, the structure as follows: the first chapter about the background of thesis topics, sources, analysis and research at home and abroad the work of this paper; the second chapter, the basic knowledge and introduce the mainstream storage technology; Chapter III, a detailed introduction MAX 8000 storage systems; article four chapters, the design and implementation of the SAN-oriented remote mirroring system; Chapter V of the remote mirror system for functional testing and performance testing; the sixth chapter, sum up the full text.Specifically, the work of this thesis is as follows:1) Design and implements a remote mirroring system with consummate disaster recovery function. It could be considered as a data disaster recovery system, ensuring data consistency and security. It also could act as an application disaster recovery system, protecting the data while ensuring the continuity of application services.2) Research and analysis of a variety of storage technologies, including: remote disaster recovery, network storage data backup, disk array, snapshot, and dual-controller technology, etc.3) In this paper, introduction of synchronous and asynchronous remote mirroring application of remote mirror scene, in order to fit their needs the user to choose a mirror mode to provide a line of thought. In short, the system both has powerful function and excellent performance. As a on sales remote mirroring product with independent R&D in China, it has extraordinary theoretical and practical significance.
