Millimeter-wave oscillators are hearts of millimeter-wave systems, and key components of millimeter-wave systems for radars, communications, electronic-wars and so on. We have realized that millimeter-wave circuits and systems were used in armament and national defense, so some other countries, especially the stronger in military affairs, on the one hand do their best to develop millimeter-wave technique by themselves, on the other hand prohibit the technique from exporting to china. On this special situation it is rather important to exploit millimeter-wave circuits and systems by ourselves.The W-band microstrip integrated oscillator was researched in this paper, and the basic theory of oscillator was introduced. The GaAs Gunn diode made in China was selected as the active device, and the working mode and equivalent circuit of the Gunn diode was analyzed. In the design of the Various parts of the oscillator, mcrostrip ring was selected as the form of the resonator, the working mode and feature of which was analyzed, and the size of the mcrostrip ring was simulated and optimizated. The branch line was used as the form of the bias circuit in the design, and the microstrip bias filter was designed, which has a good ability to inhibit the fundamental frequency and the harmonic frequency leaking in the DC side. In the design of the transition of the microstrip to the waveguide, the E-plane probe and the finline was designed, the E-plane probe was used in the actual circuit.The W-band hybrid integration harmonic frequency oscillator was designed in this paper at last. The experiments and test of the oscillator was carried out. The frequency of the output is about 87.8GHz, and the power of the output is about 0.5mW. The result shew that the program of the design is reasonable, and certain experience of the Technology of the the W-band hybrid integration oscillator was accumulated.
