Millimeter-wave oscillators are hearts of millimeter-wave systems, and key components of millimeter-wave systems for radars, communications, electronic warfare and so on. In this thesis, a Ka-Band substrate integrated waveguide Gunn oscillator is designed completely using the Gunn as negative resistance devices and using the substrate integrated waveguide resonator(SIWR) as resonant circuit. On the basis of the introduction of the working principle of the substrate integrated wave guide (SIW) technology, which general of the strong points of planar transmission and non-planar waveguide structure, this thesis further simulates and designs the Ka-Band, high Q SIWR. Since Gunn is used in this design, its working mode and equivalent circuit is analysis. And than, though designing reasonably coupling between Gunn diode and SIWR and adopting current probe to couple energy, I manufacture the Ka-Band substrate integrated waveguide Gunn oscillator. Results indicate that the oscillator operates at 35.21GHz, the output power is 30.5mW and the phase noise is 116.37dBc/Hz@1MHz.The oscillator uses SIWR as resonant circuit and uses the Gunn as negative resistance devices, its structure is novel, its results is satisfied. It is a useful exploration for millimeter-wave oscillator graphic design.
