With the development of integrate circuits, together with the IP technology become sophisticated, in order to meet time-to-market and the requirements to functions of the chip, power consumption and cost, SOC (System On a Chip) design technology has become the trend of IC design.With the development of SOC technology, the improvement of chip integration, the traditional methods of functional simulation and verification is increasingly becoming a bottleneck. In this paper, according to this bottleneck, with the analysis of the UART, SPI serial communication protocol,based on the SCE-MI, focusesd on the VIP-UART, VIP-SPI design, the writer has done various research on the design of VIP: after a detailed study of the UART, SPI communication protocol, the writer designed a dynamic configuration of transfer rate in the process of communication; after a detailed study of SCE-MI-level protocol and the soft hardware co-verification, the writer creatively designed the VIP-UART, VIP-SPI based on the SCE-MI protocol, a virtual verification environment was created with a fast authentication and without any additional hardware platform by users. The proposed method can be achieved in the chip design process, and provided a pre-verified structures that can be easily inserted into the simulation-based verification platform without need to understand various standard in details.
