In the pace with telecommunications' transforming to the high-bandwidth and high-quality multi-information service, the access mode of xDSL can't ever satisfied, and FTTH return to the point which network operators and manufacturers focus on again. The replacement of copper cables with optical cables in the access network is the general situation. PON as the key technological of FTTH, over ten years development from APON to BPON and EPON ,to the finally GPON, is more and more mature and complement. Among them,GPON technology,the most new generation passive optical cable access protocol, is based on the protocol of TU-TG.984.x,and it has a lot of advantage,such as high bandwidth,high efficiency and large coverage range.So it is considered as the most ideal solution of high-bandwidth and comprehensive access mode for most telecommunication operators.This dissertation introduces the process of developing GPON ONT device on embed system,and this ONT is based on one piece of GPON ONT SOC chip which is developed independently by my company.Main work during the development is includes the porting of U-Boot,researching of Linux kernel,implementing of general purpose interface drivers,developing of network function and WiFi function for ONT system.The details are as follows:1. The transplant of U-Boot for this ONT system is accomplished.2. The general purpose interface drivers such as GPIO,I2C, which are used to communicate with peripheral equipments, are designed and accomplished..3. The Ethernet port device driver of and the network function of this system are designed and accomplished. Network function needs to be stable and high-performance as the core function of the system. This dissertation first Analyses the hardware principle of this ONT system in detail, then introduces the design of the Ethernet port driver, and Analyzes two typical problems during debugging. At last a solution to optimize the network performance of system is added.4. The transplant of two kinds of wireless adapter driver is accomplished. Among them, Ralink adapter supports the protocol of 802.11g,and Atheros adapter support the protocol of 802.11n. 5. The bridge function which the Linux kernel provided is used to add a bridge between WiFi port and Ethernet port. And then the performance of WLAN is tested by the software of NetIQ and at last an evaluation is added.6. The system of Linux kernel and file system are cutted off to save the cost of FLASH and relive the pressure of product.This dissertation mainly complete the porting of embedded system and development of low-level drivers to support the service modules. And we strive for the most majorized design for performance and quality based on the stable of whole system.
