The fiber access technique is more and more important with the development of bandwidth network.And PON techniques show the advantage during some fiber access techniques.At present,the popular PON techniques are APON,EPON and GPON.APON and EPON have not achieved success in business for their low efficiency of loading services. However GPON has inartificial ability of loading TDM service,it can simply and high efficiently transmit all kinds of services.GPON will be the perfect solving project in FTTP/FTTH area.But GPON technique is at the underway stage in China.Some corporations are studying GPON technique.But at present most of corporations have solved the projects which based on GEPON.Therefore it is necessary and stringent to study GPON techniques. ONU is an important composing of GPON,so to study and design it has the important realism meaning.This article first introduces some popular kind of fiber access techniques and the development of PON.It describes the composing,work theory,advantages and protocol of GPON.The article puts forward the whole configuration of ONU.It is emphasis on the management and control module.According toG.984.X,the article studies the management and control of ONU system,and designs the hardware and software of management and control modules of ONU.The article is emphasis on processing information of OMCI frame. It achieves the function of how to send and receive OMCI frame and so on. The study and design of management and control module of ONU and the way of OMCI flame processing in this article is important to the development of GPON technique and industrialization of GPON.
