Electronic Let-off (ELO) and electronic take-up (ETU) are the major salient features of modern advanced boms. The use of ELO & ETU can improve the quality of products, avoid the defect of fabrics, and achieve any regulation of weft density and fast-changing varieties of weaving. The ELO & ETU system has simple structure, high sensibility and easy operation. It becomes an important direction of the textile industry. At present, the pivotal control units of ELO & ETU devices at domestic advanced boms come from abroad directly. But they are expensive, difficult to maintain, and enslaved to others in technology, unable to meet the large number of domestic requirement. Therefore, an ELO & ETU control system of the rapier looms based on earlier research is put forward in this paper; it uses DSP (digital signal processor) as its main controller, and AC servo technology, to realize the control of tension and weft density in the let-off and take-up processes. The main tasks are as follows:First, the use of Digital PID-based control strategy of tension compensation. Parameters can be established by HMI or configuration software in host-computer at real time and the productive situation can also be monitored, then the precise control of the tension and weft density are realized.Second, eight kinds of tension and weft density can be set ahead of time as the default values of system. And can be adjusted according the user's requirement at real time, or switch between the default values, even realize stepless adjustment.Third, tension is compensated before and after the starting of main motor in the loom to avoid starting marks. Loom tension is restored before starting of main motor and tension of is compensated according to the number of weft at the beginning of weaving process, the number of weft and the quantity of compensation can be set and adjusted by practical aspects of productive situation.Through several scene debuggings in productive situation, the system runs stable currently; it can achieve the production process requirements at a lower cost.
