In the processing of corrugated board, the tension of paper conveying on thedevice directly affects the quality of corrugated board. While the unwinding tensionfluctuates excessively, the paper may appear to deviate, wrinkle or break, whichaffects the productivity and cost; so tension control is a very important part of thecorrugated board production line. The stability of tension control is directly relatedto the quality of the coil processing. In addition, with the rising of the conveyingspeed of the corrugated board production line, friction and other disturbances willhave a more and more significant impact on the system. In this paper, Consideringthe real-time property of paper dension control in the production line for corrugatedboard, main subjects discussed in this dissertation focus on the tension control ofthe unwinding system. The tension control system of corrugated mill has the characteristics of greatdynamic change, strong coupling between velocity and tension, and many sourcesof disturbance. In response to these characteristics, a tension controller wasdesigned based on the arithmetic of generalized predictive adaptive control. Themathematical model of tension control system was established, and the simulationwas carried out in the MATLAB environment. The result shows that the adaptivecontroller has better control characteristics than the routine PID controller by itsadvantages of quick response, steady output and effective anti-interference.Considering the winding process is a complex system of more than one link, aseparate design of the corresponding controller for the various links will bring inmutual interference between various links, which is difficult to reconcile. In orderto improve the control performance of the system, a mutivariable H∞controlstrategy was applied. The system model with structured perturbations wasestablished, the structured singular method was used to analyse the robust stabilityand robust performance of the system. Simulation results show that the controllersatisfies requirements of the stability of the closed loop system and theperformance of anti-interference.
