University Library Web Site User-friendly Design Research And Practice

In information world, as an important information environment and intercommunion medium in network era, websites has become the main platform for libraries to provide online information services. As repository of huge information resources, university library websites take the advantage of Internet to have greatly promoted information spread and effectively supported teaching and research. However, university library website building is not perfect, there are still many questions, for example: lacking scientific information organization and layout; the usability is not ideal; ignoring the aesthetic function of user-interface; the friendliness is ignored. All these disadvantages are caused by the disharmony between designers' format and users' expectations. The designers don't understand and meet user's expectation in sites design. It has been proved both in practice and theory that only Humanized design theory can solve those problems successfully. Humanized design theory emphasizes considering users' information requirements, users' behavior characteristics, user psychology, and users' aesthetic tastes during the whole design process. This paper takes University Library website as the research object and it carries research about humanized design of university library website ,it also proposes ideas in order to improve the quality of the website, with a view to explore a new design ideas, so as to provide exploring directions for building various types of websites.This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter puts emphasis on analyzing the problems in university library web design and the research status on humanized design of library website, and elaborates the contents, meanings and methods of the study; Second chapter analyzes the meaning of human design, reasons, and pointed out that humanized design theory is demanded by our digital era, and summarizes principles of humanized design of university library website; Third chapter uses literature research, case research, questionnaires as research methods, demonstrates the humanized design process and details from user study, information architecture, and interface design in university library website design. In the fourth Chapter, it puts user research into the web design process, and proposes the university library website humanized design flow, and qufu normal university rizhao campus library is selected as an example, in accordance with, it carries on practice about humanized design of university library website, rizhao campus Library Home Page has been enhanced and supplemented from the visual effects, meeting user requirements and operational use. Chapter five summarizes the study, analyzes the shortcomings of this thesis and the works should be done in the future.
