With the development of power electronics, computers, frequency inverters, arc furnaces and other power electrical devices etc have been used in power network more and more. They not only generate many harmonics ,but also consume a lot of reactive power. So they pollute the power grid. Active power filter is the equipment used to dynamically clearing up harmonics and compensating reactive power, so APF will have a fine prospect.This paper takes the three-phase parallel active power filter as the research object. First, the concept of power quality and the status in the area of power quality control, the development and future prospect of active power filter are briefly introduced. Then the operation principle of active power filter,instantaneous reactive power theory,the current detecting method of p-q and i_p-i_q that based on instantaneous reactive power theory,current tracingmethod,voltage control method of DC-side are proposed. Accordingly, the hardware configuration and the circuit design is described. The software design and realization is also detailed. The results and analysis based on computer simulation and experiment prototype are provided in the end. It is verified that the signal detection and the reference signal generation method which adopted by the experiment prototype works well; voltage control method of DC-side works well; the main circuit, hardware and software design that based on DSP and FPGA is effective.
