In recent years, the reactive and harmonic current content increased in power systembecause of the widely application of non-linear load, converter and frequency controldevice. It has affected the quality of the electricity grid, and seriously interfered with thesafe and stable operation of power grid.The scholars have put forward a variety of compensation programs for the reactive andharmonic currents,which have their own advantages and disadvantages. In those reactivepower compensation, the APF (active power filter, abbreviated as APF) compensation isthe main direction of technological development of reactive power compensation becauseof its advantages of rapid and accurate compensation. Through referencing to a largeamount of literature, this paper studied on the hybrid compensation method which APF andLC filter used in series through the coupling transformer and then parallel to the power gridto reduce the installed capacity and costs, and its hardware implementation was proposed.In the simulation of the active power filter system, this paper focus on two principalpart: reactive and harmonic current detection and simulation of PWM rectifier links. Thetest results of several reactive and harmonic current detection technology based oninstantaneous reactive power theory under the different supply voltage conditions areanalyzed, and finally come to the conclusion that p-q detection method only applies to theconditions of symmetric distortionless supply voltage, ip-iq detection method is applicableunder the symmetric supply voltage regardless of whether the supply voltage is distorted,but the test results is not accurate in case of asymmetric voltage. Regardless of whether thesupply voltage is distorted or symmetric, only the d-q method is able to get the accurateresults. At the same time, the mathematical model of switch link and rectifier link wereestablished using the space vector PWM(SVPWM) method, and its simulation are given.Finally, through theoretical derivation and simulation test to the above analysis, this papercross confirmed the relevant techniques, and made a great valuable research results.
