Distance Learning Design And Implementation Of The Supported Platforms

This paper introduces the background, characteristics and technologies of STVU Distance Education Support Platform (DESP) in which three systems are included, i.e. course selecting system, online course system and guiding system of graduation project.Based on needs analysis and integrated design, this paper elaborates on the construction of DESP, emphasizes the design process of guiding system of graduation project particularly from some important aspects, such as needs analysis, system design, module construction and so on, and as an example, gives a case of how to design DESP.The main functions of graduation project guiding system which plays an important role in paper subject selecting management consist of qualification checking of tutors, qualification checking of paper subjects, qualification checking of paper defense team, guiding and communication management, checking management and so on. By qualification checking of tutors, basic insurances of graduation project instruction can be provided. By qualification checking of paper subjects, students whose subjects that are not qualified will be asked to select a new subject again and again until it is qualified. Guiding and communication management means that the system provides a communication platform for tutors and students, course managing teachers and tutors. By this function, students can break time and space limits and get guides of subject selecting and paper writing just when they want. Additionally, this system has another important function, that is tracing, supervision and control management of the whole process of paper instruction. By this way, many problems can be solved in time, so that the better efficiency and effect of instruction can be achieved.
