With the development of the Lifelong Learning System, distance learning and online learning are getting more and more popular among Chinese learners. And with the rapid development of Modern Distance Education, the Information System in the universities, where distance education is provided, has also been growing from scratch. The developing distance education puts a higher demand on the management of information. The problem to all technicians in these universities is how to adjust the system flexibly so as to meet the unforeseen requirements in the information-based higher education field.First of all, the thesis summarized the basic concept of Distance Education Information Systems. Then it analyzed the problems in college MIS practice, based on the practical background of the Educational Academic Support Platform of Open Education College of STVU. This thesis used SOA architecture theory and tried to enable business processes to be quickly reorganized and enhanced flexibly, which can meet the unforeseen requirements of education informationalization.The thesis introduced the basic concept of SOA architecture, Web Services principles and related.NET technologies. Then it described the advantages of system flexibly and deployment by designing a new system based on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) within service subsystems and user interface subsystem. According to the analysis of system business processes, business processes can be reorganized as a series of function modulars. These modulars can be encapsulated as service. Thesis described four different service calls and combinations..NET WCF programming processes have been introduced in details.By the introduction of Academic Support Platform design and its implementation process, the thesis studied the feasibility in SOA-based Distance Education Academic Support System with.NET technology. It provides new ideas and methods in system rebuilding and system integration for Academic Support for Distance Education.
