As functionality of modern hospital expands and medical research advances, the traditional hospital management and research style can not meet the necessity of modern society any more. A valid and electronic Hospital Information System (HIS) now becomes the commonly management model in country's large, medium and small hospitals. Nevertheless, how to optimize development of HIS and make it integrated with medical functionality is the biggest challenge we meet.HIS realization is closely related to hospital functionality. Considering that, this thesis refers to domestic and foreign HIS documents as well as their realization, and thereby, proposes classifying HIS into independent components. After that, discusses two models of Client/Server (C/S) and Browser/Server (B/S). Aiming at easy operation, low cost and easy upgrade, B/S model is mainly discussed in the realization of HIS. The model utilizes a middleware of analyzer between browser and server in processing the data query and result analysis. In the past decades, domestic HIS has been developed rapidly .Nevertheless, compared to foreign advanced HIS, our HIS focuses more on pure information store and management, while ignorance of the platform for knowledge discovery. Therefore, the thesis introduces the independent module design of clinical research and decision maker, CRDM Finally, the thesis puts forth the possibility of HIS extension to be an analytic platform, and denotes corresponding operable solutions. How to get requirements from different hospitals, and configure, builds and integrate analysis environment is to be investigated in the future.
