The discuss about network merging becomes a hotspot nowadays. As the critical part, the development of MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) technologies are concerned. As we know, IP network technologies have limitations, but act as the primary and essential base for MAN. People are doing best effort to make IP networks achieve the telecom performance, anyway it would take long term.At present, the operators build IP MAN rapidly in view of IP networks in prevailing. The model of MAN corelayer network is well-developed and carried out by MPLS. However, the network model and corresponding technology strategy of MAN IP broadband access network present variety variously due to different operation characteristics.The MAN broadband access network has become the access points of various telecommunication operations nowadays. Along with the development of telecom and technology, a great variety of high-speed services and applications for video and data are supplied increasingly, so the access network becomes the ultimate bottleneck of entire network broadbandization. Indeed, We should develop the most suitable one for next generation broadband access network to meet operators' requirement on updating and upgrading broadband access network model.This article analyzes the operation bandwidth requirements of next generation telecommunication network, and focus on various application areas to bring models combining with copper cable access and fiber access etc. Meanwhile, it analyzes the FTTB/FTTH networking which is the mainstream of broadband access network's deployment strategy in the following few years. We can meet the users' needs on high-speed operations, improving the access bandwidth, and fulfilling the purpose of network upgrade through these models and broadband access methods.Finally, this article verifies higher application value of model and access technology method through engineering practices. It can hopefully provide operators with references for construction of next-generation broadband access network.
