After the past few years, the worldwide broadband access market has obtained an unprecedented opportunity, followed by the rapid development of broadband access technology. In 2004, the fiber access technology (FTTX) has made significant progress;some famous telecom operators in American, Japan and other countries began to build a large-scale optical fiber access network. EPON,on behalf of optical access technology, of which the applications and the constructions are no longer in research.This article mainly describes the use of EPON technology to solve the users'needs for network access based on Beijing Unicom broadband speed project. The networks today ask for integration more and more. The needs of voice service, data service and multimedia service give the telecommunication access network a higher requirement especially for access bandwidth. Many users can no longer stand the existing megabyte bandwidth. In order to accommodate the development of future broadband multimedia services, to meet the bandwidth needs of various user groups in complex access environment, using EPON technology in the network access layer has played a dominant role.In 2008,the Beijing Unicom started the whole network speed project and the EPON technology is mainly used to meet the needs of high-bandwidth users. The author studied the EPON technology and the variety of EPON equipments performance, and made the network plan for different network access needs in consideration of the implementation requirements and physical environment of network construction. After comparing and discussing the different schemes, the author fully analyzed the feasibility and applicability of multi-service integrated access needs, and gave the engineering examples for authentication.
