With the rapid progress of information technology, information security has become a more and more importance issue especially on the information transmitting. The core for information security is cryptology that includes private-key cryptology and public-key cryptology. With the rapid progress of cryptology, especially the public-key cryptology can offer the most effective level of information security. The public-key cryptology is widely adopted for the information security on the electrical business, internet communication etc. Among the various public-key cryptographic algorithms, RSA is the best known and widely used public-key algorithm today. It can be used for the data authentication, integrity as well as the general confidentiality.This paper designs a RSA crypto-coprocessor based on the research of RSA cryptographic algorithm. Considering the marketing requests for reducing the low cost of the processor, this paper optimizes the executable solution for the RSA crypto-coprocessor. This paper, analyzes the RSA cryptographic algorithm on different levels, optimizes part of these algorithm, introducing the Radix-2 Montgomery modular multiplication algorithm to realize this algorithm. The hardware implementation based on the two algorithms reduces the chip area with the basic speed achievement.
