Teaching Reference Information System Based On J2ee Architecture, Construction,

Instruction reference and information system is built by Fudan University' s library and is one key construction project of China Academic Library & Information System during the 10th Five-Year Plan period. Instruction reference and information system is direct in the service of university teaching for university teachers and students. Instruction reference and information system is a distributed application and works on different platforms. It has two parts: central sub system and local sub system. J2EE technology architecture is our selection among those many technology architectures. Central sub system is at Fudan University .Local sub systems are at many universities participated in the project. Using OAI-PMH protocol local sub systems transmit instruction reference and information metadata to central sub system.This article introduces the background and benefits of Instruction reference and information system at the beginning, then discusses J2EE architecture and OAI-PMH protocol, and then analyzes function requirements of central sub system and local sub system separately in detail. Based on the analysis of function requirements, the design of whole system architecture and modules is completed. The quality and quantity of instruction reference and information metadata is the basis of the excellent service of the system. Instruction reference and information collecting ,quality control, data harvesting functions are major functions of the system , thus instruction reference and information metadata cataloging module and metadata harvesting module are discussed in detail. The article gives a description of the system' s impletion. At the end of the article an outlook for the future development of the system is took.Instruction reference and information system is a specific application of OAI-PMH protocol in university library. With the using of OAI-PMH protocol, many problems which we met before the construction of the system are solved. Local sub system is mainly for the harvest of metadata . Central sub system provides stable and quick services for readers. In order to manage the different key points of local sub system and central sub system, we use J2EE architecture in the development of the system, and also we use different operating system and database in the deployment of the system.
