Disadvantaged People In The Media For Expression Studies

The disadvantaged group is a sociological concept, which refers to the social group disadvantaged by inequality in the distribution of social economic benefits and social power, imbalance in social structure and irrational social system. Sociologists have divided the marginalized group into two categories, the disadvantaged group and the vulnerable group. The vulnerable group refers to people living in poverty or hardship because of poor physical or psychological conditions. This group includes such people as the handicapped, the elderly or children. While the disadvantaged group refer to people who are physically competent, but are marginalized or disfavored in the historical process due to imperfections in social system and structure, and these people are persistently in disadvantaged situation relative to the condition of the mainstream society. So, disadvantaged group is a relative term and is particular to certain historical period. In different countries, social systems, popular social values and historical periods, the disadvantaged group refers to different people. Compared with the vulnerable group, the disadvantage group is a more diversified, complicated and fluid group. Academicians in China generally believe that the disadvantaged group include four types of people: the laid-off, people hired for temporary positions, migrant rural workers and people who have retired from their jobs ahead of time.Different from the West, the disadvantaged group in China used to be entry-level or low skill employees during the period when the economy in China was centrally planned. They have contributed significantly to the social and economic development in China. Their plight has arisen during the economic and social transformation. That is to say, rapid social changes, rift in social structure and rigidity in social mobility have marginalized some people that cannot adapt to the changes in the social system and the labor market. These people are disfavored by the new distribution pattern of social benefits, and are disadvantaged.It is well known that, physically vulnerable group exists in any society, and their formation is not directly or closed associated with social equity. The vulnerable group basically has nothing to do with social justice. However, the disadvantaged group is the product of inequality, and is directly and closed associated with social stability. They are the marginal group deprived by social inequality.In sociology, the vulnerable, disadvantaged and advantaged groups are the products of social gradations. Differences in physical and social conditions between individual members of the society are the key cause of social gradation. Social gradation might promote social progress by creating incentives for upward social mobility, and in this process, people contribute their talents to the society. Yet on the other hand, over social gradation or hasty social gradation will produce negative impacts, such as growing gap between the rich and the poor, disparity between the advantaged and the marginal groups, and the deprivation of the disadvantaged groups, which will hinder social development. Therefore, balancing the interests of the mainstream and the marginal groups, and the interests of advantaged and the vulnerable groups, and allocating social resources rationally is key to keep the magnitude and speed of social gradation in control, and is key to building a harmonious society.If we say that over social gradation will bring hardship to the vulnerable group, then it will create social exclusion for the disadvantaged group. Social exclusion refers to discrimination or prejudice of the dominant ethic group against minority groups. The discrimination and prejudice is based on social policies internationally made to exclude certain groups. The disadvantaged group is generally excluded "for their ethnic origin, or social economic status. The worse thing is that their voices cannot be heard when the policy determining their destinies are made". This is very dangerous. "If more and more people are excluded from wealth creating and from paid employment, the society would collapse at some point. The efforts we have made to bring about social progress will be wasted."It is thought by Sun Li Ping a professor in sociology, that the essence of a harmonious society is to build a roughly balanced interest-allocating situation, to establish an integrated interest-adjusting mechanism, which includes interest-expressing mechanism, interest-consulting mechanism, and conflict-negotiating mechanism for different interests.According to the information-gambling theory, in order to realize the condition of maximum of interests from different participators, which is also called the "the balanced interest-allocating situation" put forward by Professor Sun, the key point lies on the "inexpensive negotiation" before gambling. And in fact, the "interest-expressing mechanism "advanced by Professor Sun could also be regarded as an inexpensive negotiation before interest-allocating.Therefore, "the foremost task in the course of profit -adjusting mechanism's establishment is to solve the problem of interest expressing, without which, there's no need to deal with any other interest -adjusting mechanism.At the same time, for we should attach great importance on the interest-expressing mechanism of the poor besides others in this transferring period of our society, so this is absolutely a significant issue directly related to the stabilization and harmony of today's community.However, system construction should be proceeded in in an orderly way. Mass media, as society information transmission, cultural inheritance, supervision of public opinion, important tool of service entertainment, will undertake the great mission.to provide expression platform for all walks of society before perfect interest expression mechanism established. The purpose of this paper is to find the way how to make full use of the mass media as expression platform, to create a harmonious social atmosphere, to weaken the relatively deprived feeling of disadvantaged groups ,as a result, to maintain harmonious stability of the society.Due to the constraints of time and capacity, the paper discoverd the socially marginalized status of disdvantaged groups is duplicated in the media and this disadvantage strengthened the socially marginalized status of Vulnerable groups in the social words and the resource distribution based on the present report situation analysis of the migrent rural workers in Chongqing publication media.through the sociological analysis of the formation of disadvantaged groups, promotion harmonious society construction The paper attemptly discussed reported strategy for disadvantaged groups which will be helpful for present situation improvement and harmonious society construction.
