Coresponding to the fast development of the multimedia technology and the wideness of its applying domain, many multimedia compression and coding standards progress and perfect continuously. Among them, MPEG4 plays an important role in the multimedia field. Due to it's object-based idea, it has the virtue of high compression ratio, scalability, inter-activity with users and so on. For this reason, MPEG4 indicates the tendency of the multimedia compression and coding technique.This dissertation researches the MPEG4 compression coding arithmetic, and puts forward the hardware design scheme of the infrared image compression and transmission according to the use manual of IME6400, which is an expert compression chip. What's more, the design, processing and fixing of the PCB is completed. Every part of the hardware system is illustrated in terms of every function module, including the key technology details to implement these functions. This dissertation emphasizes the connection scheme between IME6400 and the CY7C68013's General Programmable Interface (GPIF), which is an USB2.0 transmit control chip. And it stresses the interface scheme and the programming method of mutual communication, putting forward the fundamental based on the GPIF mode interface circuit project and design method of software and hardware, displaying the virtues of GPIF such as powerful, user-friendly, safe and reliable. Furthermore, this dissertation systematically expounded the basic method of firmware progress design, and narrates the configuration of the video input module, tabling an integrated solution.
