The video capture and transmission system is pop information technology, especially in military spy application. Nowadays, many video capture productions, connected to computers via PCI bus interface, are large, inflexible and unconvenient. The dissertation designed a video system which was compressed by MPEG-4 and able to transimit through Ethernet according to client's request. The system is more convenient and flexible and can support PAL & NTSC.The part of video capture and compression is based on an ASIC which can compress video using MPEG-4. One CPLD chip is developed to control the compression chip and plays as brigde chip between compression chip and Ethernet SOPC system. CPLD has small area and simple periphery circuits, as well as abundance in-chip resourse. Users can design their own logic in CPLD, so it is quite easy for system intergration.In order to transimit compressed data, an in-chip Ethernet transimission system is developed based on SOPC. This part can accept data through net port, as well as transmit user instruction. The system is running on FPGA under uC/OS RTOS, and intergrated with other periphery interfaces.The software program is also developed to work with hardware system. The software can receive and transmit data through Ethernet, as well as store compressed data using AVI file format. The DirectShow technology is also used to implement realtime decoding and previewing.
