The MIL-STD-1553B,issued by the U.S. Department of Defense during the late 1980s,is a time division,command / response,multiplexing techniques serial military data bus. Based on its high performance,1553B is the key technique for the integration of avionics systems and a data exchange network. Its'communication quality has a great effect on the avionics system's performance. 1553B protocol was introduced into China at the end of the last century. Nowadays,it has gained extensive application not only on national defense construction but also on civil aviation communication.This paper tries to design an interface testing emulation board which complies with the 1553B protocol. The purpose of the board is to provide a virtual environment for data testing of avionics equipment,and to judge if the operation of the equipment is normal or not. This paper constructs a low level system of the 1553B interface testing emulation board after studying the newly SOPC technology and Niosâ…ˇembedded soft core technology. It is used to implement the low level communication mechanism of 1553B protocol,and its functions are accomplished in a single FPGA chip. Compared with the protocol processor of foreign products and design scheme of FPGA+DSP adopted by most civil companies,the solution of this paper leads to cost reduced and integration level improved.This paper presents the details of design and simulation of the important modules in the low level system. The results of the verification prove the system is successful.
