Video surveillance is a kind of important security method with very long development history. Now the digital video surveillance has become an important development area, and its products are developing for systematization, network, high definition and intelligence. All of these provide us with the higher and more requirements for the real-time, the quality and quantity of video images when capture video images.Traditional external interface of PC has many shortcomings, such as inconvenient usage, poor anti-interference ability, slow speed of data transmission, so it fails to meet the modern requirements. USB (Universal Serial Bus) has many advantages: high speed, easy to use, flexibility,scalability, plug-play, low-cost and so on, it is widely used now.Video capture box with USB interfaces, equipped with newest digital audio & video compression chip GO7007SBUABX01 from WIS Corp. is adopted therefore, which supports multi formats of encoding (MPEG-4/MPEG-2/MPEG-1), real-time capture and edit, as well as process of the high definition large size video images. The characteristics and specifications, as well as protocols of USB are described in detail in this paper. The whole development process of video image compression transmission system based on bus USB is described, which includes video image decoding, video capture, digital video compression and USB interfaces. Design method and principles of circuit for each part are introduced. Finally the testing results prove that analyses and design methods described above are efficient and doable.
