In recent years, as the process of global informationization accelerated, China's telecommunications industry has entered a rapid-develop period and people increasingly rely on telecommunications network. As a key business system telecom business systems must provide uninterrupted services to customers. A short-time business interruption would lead to incalculable losses. Therefore, it is necessary to implement high availability in the telecommunications business network. Among the ways to get high availability, dual-computer hot-standby is a common and effective method. Now telecommunications network management platform uses a third-party software to implement hot-standby system, but this way can only support a single operation system and always reboot machine when failovering. Also the quantity of data transfered between primary and standby machine is large.The author of this paper has been an intern in the ZTE company,envolving in the T3 NetNumen network management software development.T3 is a new-generation network management system and is built to TMN standards.T3 supports several operation systems,such as Windows,Solaris and Linux.In view of characteristics of telecommunications network management system, the author designs and implements a hot-standby system named HAManager in the application layer.As a component of T3 server,HAManager provides T3 with hot-standby support in different operation environments.When some errors occur in the T3 network management, standby server can take over the Management of the network in some time without reboot,which makes the telecommunications network work uninterruptly. The system is built on the application layer and is a pure-software product. It uses both full backup and incremental backup. Because it just backups the data of T3 application layer, the quantity of data transfered between primary and standby machine is little and the load of network is light.HAManager is divided into five modules: HeartBeat, Manager,HAState,Adapter, DataSynch. The author completed the system design and detail design, coding, implementation and unit testing.The author also builded the testing environment and completed the integration testing. Test result shows that it meets the design requirements.Finally, the author concludes the characteristics of hot-standby system and the work done by him. The author also points out the inadequacies of the system, and suggestions for improvement and the direction of further efforts.
