Recently, with the rapid development of computer science, computer systems have been used in more and more areas, especially in some key departments where businesses often require uninterrupted service. Meanwhile, the popular use of network has made the runtime environment more and more complicated and the fault of the system occurs frequently. Therefore, high-availability has become the basic requirement for systems in those key departments.Firstly, related concepts of high-availability and all kinds of methods and technologies to improve availability of system are introduced. Based on these theories, we focus on the technology of hot-standby system; furthermore, combined with the practical requirements and application background of CA service in the CAPF of Hainan Province, the hot-standby system of CA servers was designed and implemented in the CAPF of Hainan Province. The detailed work includes:1) Firstly, the background of high-availability with its relative concepts and theories was introduced. Based on the analysis of availability, we studied methods to improve the availability of the system, and then focused on hot-standby solution. We summarized the architecture, the running mode and some key implementation technologies of hot-standby system.2) Secondly, we designed and implemented the hot-standby system of CA servers in the CAPF of Hainan Province: the hot-standby system adopts shared storage architecture and is Active/Standby. Normally, the active server provides CA service to the clients and both the servers are installed with high-availability software. Through periodically mutual checking, the standby server is able to take over the CA service smoothly when the active server breaks down.3) Lastly, based on queuing theory, a theoretic analysis of the implemented hot-standby system was made and the availability of the system was got. In order to check the system in practical environment, we carried out the functional test by adopting the fault injection into the real running environment. The results showed that compared with the stand-alone system, the hot-standby system improved the availability of the CA service in the CAPF of Hainan Province efficiently and achieved prospective design goals.To sum up, a hot-standby system was designed and implemented in this paper, which provides backup and disaster tolerance for the data in servers, fulfilling the requirement of uninterrupted CA service in the CAPF of Hainan Province. It is usable, safe, easy to manage, and valuable for both military and civilian use.
