Along with the rapid development of communications and computer technology, more and more enterprises rely on the remote services based on Internet and Intranet. These enterprises have increasing demands on high-availability of system. In the methods of improving system availability, hot-standby system is a usual and effective solution. Now most hot-standby system's realization base on workstation, and usually use the Unix/Linux OS. For general users, this solution cost a lot and is not friendly to the users.The author analyzed the basic theory of high-availability, and the usual implement modes of high-availability, aimed at the application characteristic of Telecommunications Management Network, proposed a solution of TMN high availability based on PC Windows, according to such present conditioaThis system uses pure software hot-standby system, do not need for additional expensive shared devices(i.e. disk array),uses the independent flow backup system and the full backup and incremental backup type; uses normal PC and Windows OS, not needs for expensive workstation, which is convenient to use. Through implement and testing, this system can achieve the design goal: high-availability.The availability of dual-computer hot-standby system is also analyzed in this paper. The advantages and disadvantages of application modes and implement modes are analyzed in detail. The reason caused system failures and how to detect these failures are also discussed in this paper.The basic rules of data backup, the structure of backup system, backup types and common technologies are analyzed here.
