Fast developing telecommunication network requires excellent telecommunication network management. Well designed TMN (network) simplifies management mode in the networks of multi-equipment providers,reduces Telecom carrier's cost, promotes efficiency of the Network Management System efficiency and plays an important role in telecom corporation enterprises' growth.Firstly, this thesis introduces the related concept and technology of network management, which include five main function of network management, network management standards, the model of network management platform and system based on Web technology. The TMN standard is interpreted in detail. Secondly, this thesis makes researches on the architecture of system base on Web, south adapter module and function configuration module in configuration management. The main contributions of this thesis are as follows.The original architecture of the hierarchical network management platform is improved. In the original architecture, users can only access the top-level network management server. If they want to access the middle-level network management server, they should use proxy services provided by the top-level network management server. Therefore, when the interaction information between the user and system grows tremendously, the top-level network management server will become the system bottleneck. The new architecture deploys the thought of Clustered Web Servers. It enables users to access all management servers through applying TCP handoff technology. The new architecture can solve the system bottleneck problem and improve system performance and reliability.The framework of south adapter module, which is the interface module between this layer network management system and the lower network management system or devices, is designed and implemented. The function of south adapter module is analyzed in details and difficulties of the design are put forward. Firstly, a large number of commands make the code complex. Secondly, the reduction of memory consumption is difficult. Lastly, it is difficult to achieve good scalability. In order to solve the problems, we put forward the solution. We design the command processing flow and propose the new design pattern by integration of the existing design patterns. Also we analyze the advantages of the solution and introduce the module structure of implementation.The framework of common function configuration module is designed and implemented. The function of function configuration module is analyzed in details and difficulties of the design are put forward. Because of all different kinds of devices in networks and the various device functions, the function configuration is getting complex. In order to solve the problem, we put forward the solution. We abstract to a common function configuration model, which shield the difference of devices function by Feature Model File. Developers are able to develop the concrete function configuration module with increasing a few codes (or without coding). In addition, we analyze the advantages of the solution and introduce the module structure of implementation.Last, the study is summarized and the further work is proposed. It is pointed out that the development of network management is towards hierarchy, integration, Web and intelligence.
