Recent advances in microprocessor, wireless communication technology and micro-electro-mechanism system, have enabled the development of wireless sensor networks(WSN) Wireless sensor network is a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. In wireless sensor networks, lots of sensor nodes work cooperatively to gather and process information from sensor fields, with wireless communication and self-organization. WSN is a new research area of computer science and technology and has a wide application future. Both academia and industries are very interested in it.The numbers of sensor nodes in WSN are numerous and single node is extraordinarily limited in resource. The all-important aim of designing routing protocol of WSN is to reduce the overall energy dissipated in the network, to prolong the network lifetime. After analyzing and comparing some routing protocols that proposed by oversea researchers, the excellent ideas among them are assimilated and an energy-efficient weight clustering algorithm is designed in the dissertation. On the basis of clustering, the cluster ID and level are introduced into the thesis, and the strategy of building the cluster level to optimize routing found is used, as well as using one-hop in each cluster and multi-hops between clusters to improve the data transmission, then an energy-efficient weight clustering routing protocol is designed, and finally, some simulation tests on the clustering algorithms and routing protocols are conducted.Through simulation tests on the OMNET++ platform are made, the energy-efficient weight clustering routing protocol is testified that has good performance on prolonging the network lifetime, and can balance the energy of the network nodes. The routing protocol achieved its design goal that is suited for wireless sensor network in the form of continuous data stream and huge scale.
