Wireless sensor networks is a new type of network,it could real-time monitor, sense,collect,and process the information of the various detected objects.As a hot spot which has attracted international attention,it has a very broad application prospects on the military affairs,environmental monitoring,industrial production and so on.But compared with traditional wireless networks,there are various constraints,such as:the number of nodes is large,difficult to manage,node energy and storage capacity are limited,in such networks,energy efficient is the most important issues,how to effectively make use of node energy,balance the node energy consumption and prolong the network lifetime is the primary objective when researching and designing the wireless sensor networks routing protocol.The paper points out the advantages of clustering routing protocol,analyses and sums up the classical and the latest clustering routing protocols based on the research of the routing protocol for wireless sensor networks,finally according to the characteristics and needs to design the new energy efficient clustering routing protocol EECRP.In this paper,the main work is as follow:First,after comparing and analyzing the performance and characteristics of flat and clustering routing protocols,the advantages of clustering routing protocol are pointed out by paper.Second,the working mechanism of existing clustering routing protocols are deeply researched,the paper detailed analyses the clustering routing protocols,such as:Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy,Hybrid Energy-efficient Distributed Clustering, Clustering Protocol based on Residual Energy,and sums up the advantages and disadvantages,based on the disadvantages to propose the improvement program.Third,the paper designs a new energy efficient clustering routing protocol EECRP based on the improvement program.EECRP determines the number of cluster heads and the radius of cluster firstly,then select cluster head according to the residual energy of each node and the relative positions of nodes;in accordance with the signal power and the residual energy of cluster head to form cluster;form the minimum hop dynamic routing among cluster heads;finally,under the premise of the energy efficient the paper put forward security idea based on the LEACH protocol is easily attacked by HELLO flooding.Fourth,make simulation verification for protocols with simulation tool OMNET++. Simulation results show that:the performance of EECRP in the distribution of cluster heads,network lifetime,network energy consumption and the amount of data gathered by network have been improved.
