Due to the development of semiconductor technology, it is possible for modern radar to use solid-state transmitter in some frequency. Solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) play an important role in solid-state transmitter, it is also the core unit of solid-state transmitter. In this dissertation we introduce the designing of a L-band 1.5kW solid-state power amplifier which used in an convergence solid-state radar transmitter.The dissertation introduces the development of L-band solid-state transmitter and power amplifier on domestic and abroad and briefly introduce the purpose and the main work of this thesis; the dissertation also introduces some design parameters for SSPA and some basic principles used for SSPA, including the input- and output-matching networks design , the combiner/divider design and the effect of amplitude and phase deviation among these SSPA modules to combining efficiency. We mostly introduces the designing of L-band 1.5kW SSPA module. The test methods and results of the module was introduced and the test results was analysed and compared.The applications of L-band mid-power solid-state transmitter have been accelerating due to the advances of the solid-state devices. SSPA module in engineering applications has following features and demands : high reliability,wide adaptability and well EMC characteristic. To solve these problems, lots of analysis and demonstration has been done. For example, equalizer's using improves the reliability of the cascaded power amplifiers and reforms the module output power's deviation; modularization design improves manufacture and interchange; suitability power combining improves power combining efficiency and reduce heat designing; reasonable layout and position improve the module's EMC and anti-jamming; the module's BITE make for fault judgement and system maintenance.The L-band 1.5kW solid-state power amplifier module have been manufactured and applied national aerial defence radar successfully. By over 800 hours steady working it have been proved that the SSPA module and the solid-state transmitter are stabilization and reliable.
