With the development of information technology, epically the popularity of network technology,communication technology and multimedia technology, the remarkable improvements have been achieved on the running speed of computer, width of broadband and data compression. Video conference, distance learning and Internet live broadcasting based on the Internet which all require high quality performance emerge a fold increasing tendency. With such advantages as little startup delay and small storage occupation on client, streaming media has become the customers'first preference. 8010R&D designed a new streaming media system based on our new operating system named Digital Organic System (DOS) with high dependability, high concurrence, and low-price-high-efficiency and high adjustalbe its characters. In our stream media system, there are three important components. Streaming media player used as a client software, stream media server, the storing and transmitting technology used in the system. As for our media player, the most important parts are three aspects. The design of the net-subsystem, the accomplishment of the protocol stack and the design of streaming media synchronization mechanism. These parts are so important that can influence the quality of our media player's work.Firstly, this thesis briefly introduces the streaming media basic concepts in this area, and the basic important technologies. After that, this thesis introduces the Encode (encode & decode) technologies such as MPEG-4. Secondly, after analyse the design of the main frame of the whole player, this thesis describes the interfaces in the net-subsystem in the player. Thirdly, this thesis emphasizes the application details about the implementation of the protocols such as RTSP, SDP, and RTP&RTCP.Then, this paper analyses and implements a synchronization mechanism. Finally, it explains the related algorithms and tests'results of the system's performance.Finally,according to our DOS's(Digital Organic System)characters,this thesis implement a new stream media net-subsystem to make full use of the above characters and make a full test of the net-subsystem and the whole system's efficiency.
