With the popularization of the Internet and the high-speed growth of the IPTV (Television over IP), the stream media services over network are developing rapidly. In order to implement one of the main stream media services, which named as multicastapplication, 8010 R&D designes a new streaming media system based on the new operating system named as Digital Organic System (DOS) with high reliability, high concurrence and low-price-high-efficiency. In the stream media system, multicast application is one kind of important application services. As for the importance of this application, based on the DOS, 8010 R&D designed three systems to support the applications which are Rotate Multicast System, Data Transformer System and Transparent Downloading System. The main application styles supported are IP-layer multicast and applicastion-layer multicast. When introducing the implementation of the systems above, the following points are emphasized:Firstly, the streaming media development trend, the basic concepts in this area, the basic important technologies and the stream media protocols standards are briefly introduced.Also, after the introduction of the DOS, this paper briefly introduces the main systems: Rotate Multicast System, Data Transformer System and Transparent Downloading System.In addiation, after the analysis of three traditional technologies which are used to implement the high reality servers, one election module under the multi-nodes is not only proposed, but also demonstrated to have the high efficiency.Consequently, after deeply researching the synchronization mechanism of the RTP/RTCP, this thesis proposes a new synchronization mechanism based on the clock axis module which was used in the Data Transformer System. Moreover, the main frame of the Rotate Multicast System is analysed. And the introduction of the detailed information of this system is emphasized, such as the data structures, the related arithmetics and the test of this system.Furthermore, besides introducing the main frame of the Data Transformer System, this paper emphasizes on two parts: one is thread pool technology and the application, the other is the new synchronization mechanism mentioned above.Finally, after all the systems have been introduced, the final test and the test results of these systems are proposed and analysed.
