With the rapid emergent of large-scale network applications, the data storage has played an important role. Due to the widely adoption of traditional storage technology DAS, the data has been scattered into different server which runs different operating system. That is the so-called "Isolated Information Island". As a result, storage virtualization has been on the central importance. Through the storage virtualization system, all storage resources will be mapped into a unified virtual storage space; Through the API, command line, GUI and the Web interface, the user can access and manage these data easily. The digital organism system, which was designed by 8010 Lab, is a virtual storage system. Through forming a unified virtual storage space of distributed resources on the network, it provides a virtual unique image space and meets the needs of large-scale network applications. But there is a problem exists in many storage system include ours. That is the users could easily access the large number of shared resources. Thus, how to make sure ones' usage was within their quotas is the point which must be figured out and that is the main purpose of this study. The digital organism system is a decentralized system. A user may have multiple landing spots at the same time and have various consumption of storage resources scattered in different areas. If implement the unified management and allocation of user's quotas by a centralized server, it not only breaks the rule that the digital organisms can not have centralized control point, but also cannot meet the application's requirements. While quota management is a critic topic in Large-scale distributed storage systems, no robust scalable solutions have been pointed out yet. We investigated quota management as part of the digital organism system and presented a solution that has less than 5% performance reduction compared with the one without the quota management. Our quota system distributed the control of user quotas; it was opened to deal with the concurrent requests. Through the technology of repetition of users' quota information, the reliability of quota management has been ensured.
