With the development of office automation system (OAS) with the network in a department in university, the article focuses on the complete solution to OAS based on the network. The author introduces the dominating techniques, involved in the development of the modern OAS, through several processes as the analysis of the operation requirement, the design of the system and the development of function modules.The article begins with an introduction to the current state of the development of OAS in our country and the functions it is supposed to fulfill, as well as the author's personal opinions of the developmental orientation of OAS.Then the author makes a brief presentation to NET development platform and an analysis of the advantages of this platform. Besides, two kinds of technologies adopted in developing OAS are explained in detail.In the following chapters, the article centers on a detailed analysis of the office demand for the university supply system, a concrete flow of the operation and a breakup of systematic functional modules. According to the principle of the database construction, the author lays out the database framework, designs and realizes OAS based on a local area network inside the military area, employing modern OAS techniques and using NET as a platform.Because of the speciality of the using environment of the system, in the fifth chapter, the author probes into the security system of the OAS with the network, involving the current solution to the network security. He gives prominence to security as the basement for the development and use of the system by strengthening the system of status identification and the administration of the keys. The sixth chapter is about the operational environment, style and testing process of OAS. In the end, the author presents his personal opinions about the OAS developmental orientation and the problems still existing in its using process.
