Microwave multiplier is an important part of advanced communication system with small scale, simple structure and little power dissipation. It is widely used in communication equipments with high local oscillator and high frequency equipments, interfere and anti-interfere transceivers with wide frequency band, transmitters of phase modulator or amplitude modulator, and frequency synthesis system.This paper researches and designs an 80th multiplier chain circuit. In the article, some theory about the model of basic multipliers is studied, including diode multiplier, Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) multiplier and Field Effect Transistor (FET) multiplier; some compares among various multipliers and some introductions about developments of multiplier technologies is proceeded; the process of the design about the 80th multiplier chain is illustrated detailed, including select of scheme, calculating of key requirement, designing simulating of every multipliers, filters and series circuits.In the prolegomenon, firstly the definition and classify of multiplier and the latest development is introduced, and then explaining the source of project and technical requirements. This project aims to afford perfect phase noise in a frequency synthesis for an engineering application,it is difficult for other circuits to afford perfect phase noise as multiplier.Chapter 2 analyses the multiplier theories of diodes, BJT and FET, deduces and calculates the multiplier theory of non-linear components, lists several typical multiplier circuits. In this project, diode, BJT and FET multipliers will be used and researched.Chapter 3 is about the specific design of the 80th multiplier chain circuit. The order of multiplier is important for designing successfully. In this chapter, analyzing the order of multipliers in the multiplier chain and every parameter.; Simulating and calculating in detail five multipliers; responding filters and series circuits. Cascade circuit of multipliers is discussed in the aspect of engineering application.Chapter 4 is about debugging and testing of the 80th multiplier chain circuit. Introduces the whole debugging method of multipliers and filters firstly, present the test result including phase noise figure, spur frequency figure and outline figure, and then present corresponding analysis.It proves the designing of 80th multiplier chain circuit successful from the figure of simulating and testing, and helpful for application of multiplier.
