In recent years, with the development of RFID, its advantages in the area of physical distribution management and finance are gradually being highlighted. So it has widely application prospects. In domestic, for the research of RFID has just started to develop for a few years, many works of RFID are still in initial stage and far behind other counties. And as one of the key technologies in RFID application, the research and application of the RFID middleware in China is also far behind other countries, which has already seriously restricted the RFID application and its popularity. Thus it's urgent to design and develop a RFID middleware not only suit our Chinese national condition, but also adapt to application in the future.With the present situation and the trend of development in the area of domestic and foreign RFID middleware, this article proposed a new framework design of RFID middleware based on SOA and the SEDA. In the first part, according to the development of RFID middleware in and abroad, the article introduced some key tech. such as SOA, SEDA, CORBA and XML. By comparing and analyzing the tech. used by kinds of RFID middleware, the article presented the weak of domestic RFID middleware, and proposed also the related solution. In the second part, With the SOA and SEDA technology, the article planed entire framework layout from business logic and modeling angle. On the other hand, the article introduced SEDA method from event handling angle, divided the system into each independent stage and realized autonomy in the stage, so the system entire performance obtained the optimization. In the content of the third part, though there is no RFID standards and specifications in the domestic and the international RFID standards and specifications is faulty, the article designed and accomplished a common foundation components based on CORBA and XML to solve the communication problems which arisen from the lack of RFID standards and specifications. These components not only promoted loose coupling of entire framework, but also improved combination ability of the framework; In order to realize the support from the platform to the existing RFID standard and specification, this article proposed and developed the massage proxy component and the EPCglobal proxy service, which solved compatible problem among different application systems. Besides, the article also presented solutions of access control, reader management, data lasting and custom-made service development etc.The article's main contributions are as follows:(1) With the software development trend, put forward an SOA and SEDA-based middleware platform architecture design;(2) Constructed a message transmission and communication foundation components based on SOA and SEDA by the tech. of CORBA and XML. It resolved the problems of data sharing and compatibility among internal platforms and enterprise information systems;(3) Designed and accomplished a RFID data filtering algorithm based on the SEDA event queue;The achievement of this article - SmartMW platform is one of the National Technical department 863 plan's achievements in scientific research, and has already passed the national assessment, and obtained expert's high praise. At present, the SmartMW platform is being used as the commercial character RFID middleware platform.
