According to the report of Frost & Sullivan, the income of global mobile game business in 2008 will reach to 9.3 billion US dollars, and the part of Chinese market will be 40 billion RMB. Although mobile game business thrives,it also produced certain negative effects. So Ministry of Information Industry of China clearly said that it would develop policies to encourage software enterprises developing software themselves, develop games that are beneficial to the youth and promote online game business healthily. But throughout mobile game business of China, most games are simply for entertainments. Young people can easily indulge themselves in those games. Games with functions of education and entertainments are rare. In view of those problems, this paper studies related technologies and develops a mobile online game that belongs to the area of mobile education.This paper studies three kinds of technologies related to the development of mobile online game.Those technologies are platforms to develop mobile game,game cycle and communication. Firstly, this paper analyzes popular platforms to develop mobile game and explains the reason to choose J2ME as the platform to develop mobile game. Secondly, this paper analyzes game cycle to make mobile game be developed according to standard. Finally, this paper introduces communication with SMS and GPRS.After introducing and analyzing related technologies, this paper develops this mobile online game.To reach design goals, this paper studies and implements the game from three kinds of aspects.Firstly, separation of affairs code and communication code.Both client and server implement the separation of affairs code and communication code. This separation can lower the coupling degree of game system.Secondly, communication with SMS and GPRS.Game system implements communication with SMS and GPRS to satisfy the needs of different users. Thirdly, designing different servers.According to the needs of client, game system designs different servers to provide services to clients. Knowledge pool for learning is made of data base to provide education information.In summary, this paper studies related technologies to develop mobile online game and implements a real mobile game. In the process of researching and developing the game, some useful achievements are obtained which are positive to further researching and developing.
