As an emerging biometric for identification, iris recognition has received increasing attention in recent years. One of the most promising recognition techniques is the one based on the human iris due to its high reliability for personal identification. It has desirable properties such as uniqueness, stability, noninvasiveness and living-object character over the traditional method. So iris recognition is paid attention to more and more domestic and international relevant researchers because of high veracity and good economic benefits.At present, most of the products in iris identification is based on PC, there are some problems in the field of portability stability and security about them. To solve these problems, this paper designs a portable embedded iris recognition system based on digital signal processor (DSP) and field programmable gate array (FPGA). And this new construction has high efficiency.The work about this thesis is gived below:We designed a hardware system including DSPs, FPGA, COMS image sensor, human-machine interface and UART port. And we also wrote the related drivers to support applications. Because the DSP work at 300MHz, and some other chips work at 100MHz, in this thesis we discussed some signal integrity theories gived some experiences about PCB design.We realized the real-time display system in the FPGA using the Verilog_HDL. It's including image capture module, pingpang structure module, 1/2 sampling module, TFT-LCD module. And we also designed an I/O module to communicate with DSP.We designed an application program to identify iris image base on the DSP/BIOS. And we realized the function of the iris identification.Finally, this system is reliable, and it can identify iris with high efficiency. And the modularized hardware and software are fitable in many different situations.
